For International Families
Supporting parents as they navigate ADHD, neurodivergence and education across borders
Moving countries or navigating an international school system can bring exciting opportunities for children and families. It can also create new questions and uncertainties, especially when your child has additional needs or learns differently.
You may be wondering:
Does my child's school understand their needs?
How do different education systems approach learning support?
What support should I ask for?
How can I communicate effectively with school?
Is my child struggling because of a transition, their learning profile or something else?
With extensive experience in UK and international schools, I help parents understand their child's needs and feel more confident navigating educational decisions.
Understanding different school systems
International families often move between countries, curricula and approaches to learning.
I have worked across a range of educational settings, including:
the UK National Curriculum;
International Baccalaureate (IB);
International Primary Curriculum (IPC);
Common Core.
This experience allows me to understand the differences in how schools approach inclusion, assessment, learning support and communication with families.
My role is not to tell you which school system is "best", but to help you understand your child's experience and identify what support may help them thrive.
Working confidently with international schools
Many parents want to work collaboratively with school but are unsure how to begin.
I can support you with:
understanding school feedback and recommendations;
preparing for meetings with teachers and learning support teams;
explaining your child's strengths and needs;
asking informed questions;
considering appropriate next steps.
My experience from within schools helps me understand both the parent's perspective and the educational environment.
ADHD and neurodivergence in international settings
Children with ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence may experience different levels of understanding and support depending on their school environment.
Some children may:
appear to cope well while working extremely hard internally;
struggle with organisation and independence;
become overwhelmed by expectations;
experience anxiety around learning or school attendance;
have strengths that are not always recognised.
I help parents look beyond difficulties and understand the individual child behind the challenges.
Why families choose my support
I bring together:
more than 36 years of experience in UK and international schools;
experience as a SENDCO and Head of Learning Support;
knowledge of different curricula and educational approaches;
postgraduate study in Psychology and Special Educational Needs;
ongoing engagement with current research in ADHD, neurodivergence and inclusive education.
I provide practical, personalised guidance designed to help your family feel more informed and confident.
Supporting your family wherever you are
Whether you are new to an international school, preparing for a transition or trying to understand how best to support your child, I can help you make sense of the journey.
Your child is more than a diagnosis, a report or a school experience.
Together, we can look at the whole picture and find practical ways forward.
